Studs can be done with the cab on, you just have to pull the rad. and stuff up front. Then take the drivelines off, loosen the tranny and rotate the motor towards the front of the truck. I did one about 6 months ago. Also they have to be done one at a time. doing them this way.

The F-250 also got d60 in 04 and up

so are studs a necessity at any HP in order to keep it reliable or only at a certain HP range?

No. They are not. Just if your upping your timing above 16.5*, or you put a fat-a$$ turbo on it.

What I was told from Elite Diesel was this, if your doing the EGR delete and a SCT with custom tunes, studs will be needed for the Insanity tune. Which I was doing the EGR delete tuner and studs, the tuner had Elite tunes Tow (65hp), Street (100hp), Insanity (150hp). After i had it all installed i can see why the studs were needed. Just the tuner intake and exhaust system....... the truck was a rocket ship.

Don't think anything else is needed on a 6 oh than the 3 basics and an EGR and rebuild the oil cooler. Unless you want a serious street truck. Just my 2 cents!

I really appreciate the info guys. I"m leaning towards a 6.0 mostly due to the transmission. I prefer to never have to open the engine like my cummins, but an Excursion is teh perfect truck for me. Myabe i'll get lucky and find one that's already had the hard stuff done!

It will tow fine, but you can not compare a modded cummins to a stockish 7.3

300hp is about all you will get without doing turbo or injectors.

Its twice the rig as your cummins, more room, better seats, better interior, better axles...
is that power rating to the ground or the crank?

Any HP numbers anyone quotes you should be RWHP... Otherwise they are all but worthless.

I agree, but just wanted to clarify if that's what you meant. Getting serious about selling the cummins....
