what is pcm
#2
I have a 2000 f250 and I was told by the mechanic shop that the PCM is located on the driver side half of it is inside the cab and the other is outside the cab inside the fender and directly under the cowl. Also was told that it is a common problem because the rain water that comes in the "cowl" (black grate under the windsheid wipers) drips on the pcm and is usally what makes them go bad. One of my friends has a diesel trucking company (semi's) and said when they experience a bad pcm they undo the ground and reset it and they have had some luck with that. (if the ground is not good it makes the pcm weak not saying it will work but if your shopping for a new one it's worth a try and again these are semi's not ford trucks.

What are you planning? What year (early or late 99)... You can get the PCM code without even looking, or as close as you need to, just knowing late or early 99.

It doesnt happen as much with the superduty trucks as it does the OBS...
No need to remove the kick panel, you will need to remove the box that holds the PCM.
