Default No Power, Need Help

Howdy Boys,
I have a 01 7.3 with 227,000. I started the old girl up and was heading to work and noticed a large loss of power! I noticed instead of hearing the turbo whine I can only hear an air rushing noise from under the floor under the dash. I checked to make sure all of the intake tubes are hooked up adn that the exaust is not cracked, all of the clamps look good and no oil leaks noticed around the turbo. I am thinking the waste gate may be stuck opan but i can move the rod from the soleniod by hand. I am not sure how to test the waste gate system properly, Mabey its not even the waste gate I dont know. Any help or information on how the system operates would be appreciated. thanks guys.

Howdy,
Well I think I found the problem. The pipes from the exhaust manifold to the turbo are leaking i am going to replace them and see if that is the problem. any ideas if I should use stock pipes or are there better pipes available in the aftermarket. Everything alse is stock, turbo, manifolds, ect...

You can get bellowed pipes from IH... There a bit better...

I dont believe that is your MAIN problem. If there leaking they need to be repaired, but it sounds like your EBPV (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve) is closing while you drive. This can happen when the cold weather comes in, and also when the EBP sensor gets plugged. There is a plug on the bottom of the turbo pedistal at the front, unplug it for a day or two and see if most of your problem goes away or not...

I will give it a shot. I ordered the pipes and they will be here monday so I will unplug it for the weekend and see what happens. I was planning on cleaning all the moving parts of the turbo as long as I have to remove it any way so if it is plugged hopefully I will see it. Do you recomend any type of cleaner or is there any chemicals I should stay away from?

I disconected what i think is the conector for ebp. a small two wire conector at the front of the turbo, there is a metal spring type latch holding it in. I will see what happens.

howdy,
What did you use to clean the tube? Was it obvious that it was plugged or did you try to pass somthing through it because mine looks clean from what I can see? Is there a port in the plenam were the tube enters that needs to be cleaned as well. thanks
