Have fuel and glow plugs are working why wont it start
My 7.3 ran fine and it started getting bad gas milage my suspicion was faulty injector before i parked it I noticed when starting it, it acted like the batteries were going bad just before it would fire. So I parrked it for a week or two and went out to work on it and it won't do anything but crank over no start. I have fuel and checked the glo plug as well as the relay what am I missing. (also tried a couple shots of ether not a pop fart snort nothing) also saw the internet dangers of ether in diesels and that experiment is over. Need help

Just got done replacing it 30 min ago no change in situation think I going to attack the HPOP next. Finally got a pop out of it when I gave it a whiff of starting fluid in the correct intake tube ( sometimes I am an idiot) or is there another sensor that can effect the injectors from opening.

Well I am known to always over look things and get to far in depth with situations and Jeff stricks again lets reflect on what the first symtoms were "BATTERIES" seem like they were going dead just before fireing, so Jeff decided to take two weeks and disasemble his engine look for injector problems and oil distribution problem and glow plug problems and wiring problems and cam position sensors, wouldn't you known Jeff decided to use two cars and hook up jumper cables to both batteries and WALA fired right up it was the batteries. Truck seemed like it was cranking over normally but I guess it wasn't Thanks Lange503 for the input it's always nice to hear a reply before people like me take a 20lbs sledge to it and really fix it. Sure that I still have problem with it somewhere because of the gas milage but at least I can move forward with diagnoses of the injectors with it running

These trucks REQUIRE a solid power source to crank and start. Just because they will crank does not mean there is enough power to fire the IDM...
And NEVER... NEVER use starting fluid of any kind on a glow plugged diesel unless the glow plugs are disconnected. You can and will damage the valve train!!!

I have only own it for two years and put 12000 miles on it (131000 bought and 143000 now) changed the oil 3 times and the fuel filter twice had a rear disc metal to metal couldn't hear it with the noise of the engine, changed out the rotor and pads seems to be coasting alot better than it was maybe the problem with mpg possibly

15w-40 rotella first two times and 15w-40 Delo 400 last time average temp casa grande in summer is 107-115 winter 70-85 is this a good weight for these conditions also there is signs of oil in the intercooler tubes ( two steel tubes that circle around the radiator I think that's the name for them) not much but tiny puddles at the rubber connection clamps is this a bad sign .
