I know VP44's are Cummins big high price thing that breaks and i know a 7.3 99-03 that there big high price thing that breaks is the High pressure oil pump just wondering how often they go out? How much they are? How to prevent it from going out?

 

HPOP rarely breaks... I have over a million miles on 4 different trucks, my wife has 170k on her Ex... Not one HPOP has gone out...

Not a normal part to break...

 

i have 206k on my 03 7.3 and HPOP has never had a single problem
