bypass oil filter kit

The hose diameter is not important. Flow is restricted anyway with the small orifice.
Hydraulic applications do not cover the heat range of engine oil.
Just ask your next hydro tech.
You won't need braided hoses, because hydraulic hose have that already inside the hose. That explains the high pressure range of hydraulic hoses. They are also very stiff.
Of course, there are people using hydraulic hose with success, I did it also the past.
Then I discovered teflon, this is, so to say, another world...

Hydraulic line is fine. Braided stainless is mostly for looks. Nobody will see your bypass lines unless they are laying on their back under the truck.

Very simple to answer, because all other hose applications are not designed for the heat range.
If you ever have lost an engine due to "inapplicable" hose, you won't do that mistake again. It's a comparable cheap insurance.
So engines vary in heat range- while towing or driving on the Autobahn I'm in the range of 270°F with ease. A hyd hose does not handle that heat and starts to detoriate.

The Boston Wetherhead hydraulic hose I've been using is rated for 300psi at 180deg F. The ratings are burst rating and generally proportional within a certain working range. Bypass system pressure is nil downstream. Goes up to anywhere around a few psi less system pressure on the upstream side as the filter loads.
Perfect for an engine oil bypass application.

I have a FS2500 on my truck and like it I made my own hoses at work not sure what the rating on the hose is but I know it's realy high PSI rated they use it on our loader and forkliftsI wan't to say it's like 5000psi or somethin like that probably overkill but fittings and hose were free I think I paid $200 for the filter and housing.
