Turbo upgrades?
Hey guys, has anyone done the turbo compressor wheel upgrade? if so hows the difference in it an was it worth it? im look'n for a few good turbo upgrades that arn't gunna break the bank but gunna give me a noticable diff. also what about upgrading the waist gate?thanks guys

The wheel like they said is mostly about surge, maybe a little extra performance, and its going to make the whistle louder
1.00 housing will make for lower EGT's and it takes a little longer to spool (higher RPM's), available in wastegated or non. The non enjoys the benefit of eliminating the EBPV and opening the exhaust port larger for better flow, this will make things wind up easier meaning it gets up in RPM's a little faster.
1.15 housing might help a little more on EGT's, but it spools much slower. A good choice if you plan to race the truck and want higher end horsepower. Again it will eliminate the EBPV and open the exhaust port.
The ported compressor shroud allows for more air technically, but no gain has ever been reported from its use, the compressor wheel used with it is still the same size.
Waste gate would make the turbo blow off at a higher boost, Ron's turbo has a good one at a reasonable price. Like they said, be careful too much boost is a bad thing.
My suggestion is start with a nice, free flowing intake. Either a Tymar for cheap, or pre-engineered cold air intake. Clean out the boost pipes and intercooler, and do a CCV mod so it doesn't cake oil in the system again. A TS chip is worth every penny and everyone offers free reflashing so as your truck grows they'll reflash for the mods you add.

Awsome thanks alot, that really helps, do you have an opinion on the CCV Mod. an ideas on how to plug the hole on the intake side? i have a cold air intake but i still have the stock piece from the turbo to the bracket were the CCV goes in. an what would be better on the CCV side, run a hose down to the bottem of the truck like the rams or run a short hose with a filter?

The key to the CCV would be to get the oil to stop entering the system, yet capture and burn any combustible vapors from the crankcase. Ideal in theory, horrible in practice. The cheapest CCV mod is simply to jamb a hose onto the dog house, and take it somewhere like behind the rear tire, it'll just dump its messy goodness on the road as you go and you hardly have to smell anything. The proper way is to take it to a catch can with a breather and let the system go back and forth as it needs to. Catch cans for this purpose are cheap (>35).
The intake plenum can then be eliminated, filling in the opening is a must so you don't suck in dirty air, fill it in with 5 minute epoxy, just tape the hose barb off, mix up the epoxy and put it in the opening thru the throat of the plenum. I like to dremel off the hose barb and the obstruction in the plenum and just make a patch in the plenum with the epoxy but that's up to you.
I'll post pics of my doghouse later, I didn't like the hose routing so I made my own.

just take out the plastic adaptor that the ccv goes into and put in a piece of 4" exhaust tubing. you dont need the mounting bracket. its only there for the adaptor.
