Has anyone on here swapped in a 7.3 for a 6.0? Is it pretty much a staright swap if you have the engine and the trans. Can i get the same power or more out of a 7.3 without to much modding? i have a 2003 ford 350 dually and it is a really nice truck but i hate that 6.0 motor. yea it will fly when u can keep it running but it leaks oil like crazy wont start half the time. i can get a 7.3 cheap from a friend. anyone make an adapter plate to run my current trans?

 

depending on where you are there might be some legal repercussions considering the 7.3 was replaced because of emissions. if that doesn't concern you then i guess its possible although a cummins swap would probably be less of hassle than a 7.3. probably not what you wanted to hear.

 

Its a huge pain, for no gain...

If your thinking of a swap go for a 5.9 swap. Yes there is adapters for the tranny, but it step back to a 7.3 from a 6.0 is just not right.

Fix the 6.0 right and its a tough motor, every bit as good as the 7.3...

Studs, EGR delete, good SCT tunes and your rockin!

 

ditto ... there is NO WAY you'll get more performance out of the 7.3 fo the same or less $$$ as the 6.0 - just stud it, delete the EGR and tune the dang thing like CSI said and you'll be rockin and a rollin! 6.0's are nice motors once the glaring weaknesses are fixed.
