No, you can sent it to Power Hungry Performance for a reburn and it will work. All TS blanks are the same, its the programing on the chip that will not work.

A 99-2001 auto chip will work on any 99-2001 auto for the most part, but in 2002 Ford changed a bunch of stuff on the PCM and the chips from a 2001 will not work properly on a 2002 and up...
