So the hubs on my father 2001 SD wore out and needed to be replaced. But the mechanic said let me just make it so you don't need lock the hubs on the outside you just need to turn the selector on the dash. OK it works fine all winter. The other day driving to court I noticed the hub unit was gone and it was just a hole. The mechanic (dumbass who thinks 12v can be chipped) says it must have been stolen. Im skeptic because the hubcap was still on. Is it possible to take the hub unit out without the hubcap needing to be removed. cause nobody is gunna put a cap back on it if there robbing you. Or did it just fall out like I think?


(yea i rolled my ram because i got cut off, and i was driving with a junior license so I had to go to court. Neighbor talked to the cop and im off the hook. And all i got was 6 stitches on my had from glass)

 

More then likely the snap ring poped out and the hub worked out. Hope the stub shaft is not damaged.

Please do not go back to that retard. His way of fixing it, means your driving around with your hubs locked all the time.
