Default ticking/tapping

so last night i pull into my shop to warm up my work truck and when i get out of mine i put it in nuetral and hear a ticking or tapping type noise. at first i thaught it was a injector or something in the engine. but then i put the clutch in and the sound went away and it only does it once you drive 10 miles or so once everything is warm. could this be my flywheel and if so how much longer do i have before it busts completly?

Could be the flywheel, could be a clutch issue...

sounds like the input bearing.... or throwout bearing or flywheel.... if its the input bearing, your ok for awhile... if its the flywheel, you need to get it fixed soon... and since the noice goes away when you dissengage the cluth, its more than likely not the throwout....

i have always seen the opposite, when i have seen a throwout bearing go bad (in gas cars, never had a manual truck) it would raise cane when in neutral and the clutch pedal not pressed down, and as soon as you start to press the clutch pedal down the noise would go away. i would say the throwout bearing....

as when he pushes the clutch in, the noise goes away..... if he meant that he put in a new clutch and the sound went away (like while driveing) then you are correct Benjamin....

could this not be normal gear lash?

I have read that if you leave it in neutral and slowly increase rpm's if it normal gear lash (neutral rollover) then the noise will stop.
