1 st head studs are the bolts that hold your heads to the block. ( your truck already has them)

When you hear this it means a better ( stronger ) Studs are installed into the truck. ARP is one of the best maker of these upgraded studs.

So when you upgrade injectors, turbo, etc it creates more pressure and these prevent heads coming off.

Hope that helps ya

The 7.3, and the 6.0 and the 6.4 come with head BOLTS, not studs...

Studs are just that, threaded rods that you thread into the block, and then install nuts and washers on the top and TQ to spec. You get twice the holding ability... ARP are the most common, but H-11 are the strongest. ARP's can be retqed 2-3 times and then they strech too much, H-11's are about unlimited.

On a 7.3 the factory head bolts are fine up to about 40psi of boost pressure. I say about because some can go at 35 and some can hold 45... the normal safe level is about 40psi.

Your not going to make 40psi without injectors, be it stage 2's or larger, so until you start working in that direction I would not worry about them.

I ran stage 2's and factory bolts for about 50k and up to about 42psi with no issues. Then I ran hybrids for about 10k and 45psi with no issues until I cooked the #4 piston...
