Default Wastegate Question..

Hey Guys,I guess you can see I am new to this site. I have a 1999 F-350 7.2 I bought this truck at a steal( Now I know why he got rid of it). I have noticed it has NO boost,The wastegate is free moving(not stuck) and there is no pressure out of the red hose. Checked it and it is not blocked along with the green hose. The only thing I can come up with is the wastegate solenoid has gone bad. Anyone have anyother suggestions?? Thanks...

Sounds like the wastegate is bad, not something that normaly breaks but it could happen.

do a search for "Turbomaster Wastegate Controler". I had one when I had the stock turbo and it did great!

Have you checked the wheels in the charger?

Works great, but is WAY over priced and as hard to adjust as the factory piece...

The turbomaster can be adjusted in about 30 seconds with a 10mm Deep socket and a 16" long socket extension. Don't even have to climb in the motor bay. You can also eliminate the entire wastegate control set up, red and green lines, and solenoid.

I just sold mine a few weeks ago.

The Wheels look good,How canyou tell if the wastegate is bad?I did take the tube off that goes from the exhaust to the epvs. It was full of carbon, cleaned it but still nothing.

What part is broken and loose? the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve) or the Wastegate? The EBPV is on the outlet of the turbo, by the down pipe. The Wastegate is controled from the top, also on the exhaust housing but at the top.

What part is loose? I would post a few pictures, but my laptop crashed and the loaner does not have all my pictures on it.

The pipe comes from the exhaust and goes up the front of the engine to a sensor,The connector wires were loose.Fixed that but still nothing. I have had several people tell me the wastegate is bad-----I dont know how to check for that.
I can hear the turbo spool but its like its not opening up...When the engine hits about 1500rpm it spools but no power ???

OK here is what I have done and what I got so far. Cleaned tube to ebps, and sensor.Alot of carbon in both. Put new wastegate solenod on. Both red/green hoses are clear and free flowing. Put 15psi of air to wastegate and it functioned fine. Starts to spool but thats it.I am getting no air flow through the red hose to the wastegate. I think I have checked everything. The ebps might be bad since it was full of carbon.(maybe) ??? I'm getting Frustrated... Can someone tell me how the ebps works?

I doubt its your wastegate. Do you have a strange sound at idle? It sounds to me as if the EBPV is stuck closed.
