Default few questions from new diesel owner

What temp should the water temp gauge show? Mine never gets over 170-180

What temp should my egt gauge show? Post turbo probe and I can see 1000deg if I get on it!

If i go from stock to 5in exhaust and take it into a 6in stack will this lower my egts?

Also anyone have any experience with the old red Diablo Delta chip?

Be genital im new to diesels ! My truck is a 2002 7.3 4x4 sw cc lwb with a Diablo delta chip with 40 and 80 hp tunes all readings above were taken in the 40 hp tune mode and an tymar style homemade filter set up. Need Mod suggestions !!!!!!!!!!!

the temps sound right. yes 5 inch exhaust will lower egts if you are run stock now. i would also do a cold air intake that will help you on your 7.3l

1000 deg post turbo = bad. You should tap it pre turbo. I think post turbo you add 300 deg so that puts you at 1300. They say that 1250 is the limit before it can affect your motor if you keep it above that temp. You can cruise at 600 or so all day then get it up past 1250 for a few and it will be ok. But, if your towing and your running about 1000 or so and you get it up to 1250 and keep it there its gonna be worse cause it was already so much hotter to begin with. I dont know if that makes sense the way I wrote it?

If you dont get a new exhaust now, cut off your muffler and cat. It will definitely lower your temps. Plus it will sound better.

Also for a chip get a custom chip like DP, TW, or something with custom tunes. Any questions shoot me a pm

exactly what kyle said.
as for suggestions i would recomend a dp tuner, or another custom tuner.

way better bang for your buck BUT DEFINTATLY put your pryo pre turbo!!!

how serious you looking to get with your truck HP wise?

Thanks guys! Im not looking at getting too serious with the hp i just like to romp on it from time to time ! i will look into moving the probe pre turbo! If im just driving down the road at 60mph my egts are around 300 or so but if i mash the go pedal its a dragrace between the speed o, boost gauge and the pyro and tons of black smoke but it pulls like crazy! I dont want to melt anything down thats for sure . Kyle what you said makes perfect sense and i forgot to post that it has no cat or muffle just 3.5 in exhaust out the back .I was told the diablo chip that im running can be reprogrammed with custom tunes , its 4 bank whatever that means? Im a machinist not a tuner ! I want as much performance as i can get without sacrificing longevity.

Yes that means it has 4 slots so you can fit 4 tunes. Straight pipe rocks. If you cruise at about 300 deg that means about 600 deg thats what I cruise at when Im doing about 60. Egts are usually 550 - 600 at 60 mph
