My dad's '02 F250 with the 7.3 liter diesel has shut down twice in the last couple of months with low oil. There are no signs of leaking and no signs of burning either. The tail pipe is clean. Just had emmisions and is clean. No dripping in garage. I am lost on where the oil is going. It has lost 6 quarts in 600 miles. Anybody who has seen this or knows where the oil could be going? Help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you. -Adam

 

someone has to be stealing it, if you lost 6 qts in 600 miles there should be some signs somewhere.

 

That is what is confusing the crap out of us. There is no sign anywhere. We are baffeled and lost.

 

might have a bad ring in one of your cylinders...

 

What if you park it on a blanket or plastic sheet, let it run for a bit and see if there's any drips? Have you checked around the back of the engine? the heads leaking? a valve? around the injectors?

 

pull your fuel filter cap off id bet you got a leaky injector pushing oil into the fuel tank or filter most likely into the fuel tank pull a sampple from the tank id bet theres oil in it
