i have found a 99 f250 powerstroke it has 225000 miles on it. its a cheap truck and ive driven it but the miles seem kind of high. this would be my main truck to chip lift and drive around so how long will then engin and the truck as a whole last.

if it has been takin care of even decently you can expect an easy 600-750,000 miles on the 7.3 no problem, there a pretty bullet proof engine

I agree it all depends on how well the engine was maintained.

When it goes out put a 12 valve in. Make some power and go another million!

Thanks guys. im still thinking about the powerstroke and have been thinking about just ripping out the motor and putting a 24 valve in. but if the 7.3L will last to 500,000miles or more i may just leave it. thank you i have alot to consider

HI CL-14, I would wait for the 7.3 to blow-up, before spending all that money, adapting the 24 valve, but it's your choice !!!

i sold my 2000 7.3 last nov. when my new 08 came in that i had ordered and the 2000 had 897K+ on it with no problems whatso ever the old 7.3 like everyone here is talking about is pretty much bullet proof. all i ever spent on the truck was a couple of batt's other than the usual maint.
