Default Best turbo?

My dad has a 2002 f250 7.3L ford, He has a 4 in magnaflow exhaust w 5 in tip, a K&N intake and an edge juice w attitude chip. he pulls a 40 ft toyhauler trailer that weighs 16,000 lbs totally loaded. he regularly tows up steep grades and needs more power and cooling for the hills. What would be the best turbo for his needs? He wants quick spool and good top end as well. doesnt need it to hot rod, only for towing the trailer, so it has to work around town too. thanks guys.

Wow, a nice looking girl interested in trucks -- COOL!

Your dad's setup is almost identical to mine and I am going with the Garrett GTP38R. It's a larger turbo than came stock, and builds boost over stock. It builds that boost as fast as stock so that's good but the best part (IMHO) is that it is a ball bearing design allowing for greater longevity (much less frictional losses and heat buildup). It's not intended for hot rodding the truck but can make as much as 40 psi with the right tune!

Contact Luke Diesel for one or just plain request a quote in the Bombardier portion of this forum. Price I was quoted about a year ago were in the $1600-$1700 range. Well worth it.

Good luck!

i know this is a little off topic here but has he looked into the 6.0L intercooler upgrade? a friend of mine says it helped his 7.3 Excursion A LOT in the EGT department...... and it is cheaper than a turbo.... maybe using it in combination to a turbo would produce good results.....

PS we missed ya gurl....

6.0 IC is not just a drop in deal. It fits but you have to get some new boots or extend the IC tubes. I saw about a 50* drop when I installed mine.
