Default Truck losing power

My 2001 7.3L starts fine and runs for about 1/8th of a mile. It then loses 90% - 95% of its power. If I stay with it and keep pushing the gas it blows a lot of white smoke, sputters, starts going, and then quits again for about a mile. After the mile she runs great all day without a problem however it starts all over again the next day.

Any help would be appreciated.

It has a TS Performance chip in it which was in it when I bought it The only recent maintenance was an oil change, air filter change, and new brakes all the way around. The guy I bought it from told me that he put in a new turbo, had the transmission rebuilt, new batteries, had the heads redone, and put in new injectors. He had the truck for 70,000 of the 270,000 miles.

stupid question.... but do you warm it up before driving it? my 7.3 barely moves when its cold, once warm it goes fine though.
