Default 02 f350 turbo

I recently bought a truck from my best friend of many many years! I have been around the truck since he bought in new in 02. I am curious if a turbo would help my issue or if it is something else! Let's start with the issue! Issue 1 egt climbs quick easily hit 12 to 1400 fast! And the turbo takes a while to spool up! Now the upgrades! It has 5 inch turbo back exhaust no cat, swamps electronic injectors with the 6 setting on the fly adjustment ****, air raid or aFe air intake open NOT enclosed box, banks big head actuator, bully dog programmer,4.56 gears, arb air locker in rear, aggressive limited slip in front, 6 speed manual,37x12.50r17,tires,4inch lift with flatbed! I think that is all! So I am asking for info on best way to lower egt temps and help the turbospool.

I would look for a boost leak first

I heard exhaust leaks can cause the egt to rise is that true and is it a drastic rise or moderate?

Depending on the size of the leak it can cause egts to sky rocket and power to be way down.

Ya might need a friend to help out with that. Or, pull the boost tube couplers and check for rips, or a hole(s), maybe loose clamp(s) at the coupler(s).

So I was just told that the 5 inch turbo back exhaust I have is too big! I was told it doesn't have enough back pressure now! I think the guy was just trying to sound smart but idk! I thought the bigger the better on diesels but I'm a noob on them so any answers would help tremendously?

He's full of ****. The turbo provides all the back pressure you need.
