Default 7.3 cold start

Hey,
I would look at the injectors. If you are running 15/40 in cold climates, older injectors have a tough time until the oil heats up and thins out. Dump the oil and filter then use 5/40 synthetic Rotella..
One other thing, be careful using starting fluid with diesels with glow plugs. If you have to, it might be a good idea to disconnect the glow plug relay. Good luck!

Running a block heater? Once the temps dip below 20 degrees I usually start plugging mine in.

might also consider rigging up a vacuum pump to extract high pressure oil. It has probably been there for a few years?
