so im being told dana 60 and one guy says dana 70 what rear end do I have in my truck?? its a 2002 ford f250 lariat. the tag on it says 409 and some other numbers how can I decode this..

 

If it has 12 bolts it is a sterling 10.5 not a Dana 60/70.

The only reason it could be anything else is if it was swapped. Which I highly doubt happened.

All SRW super dutys came with sterling 10.5s

Dana axles always have a stamp on the back of the axle tube on either side of the pumpkin if it is dually it is prob a 70 HD but other than that look for the number or if it is a full floater simply pull out one axle shaft and count the splines 60's are normally 30 spline and 70's vary from 32-35 spline hope this helps

 

Dana 60 Front and sterling 10.5 on the back I have a 01 F350 SD SRW 4x4 and that is what I have

 

not all SD have a D60 in the front.
