Default Towing Power suggestions

I have a 2000 F350 7.3 Auto trans with 246k miles on it. (trans was replaced by previous owner so current trans model is unknown, as of right now)
I tow a 30 foot goose with 2 rigs on it.

Current modes:
My goal is more towing power and stopping power all while keeping temps down. So im seeking info and suggestions. Pulling some hills on the way to RC with both rigs on my trailer means im going around 30-35mph. Id like to improve this.
I am not interested in how fast i can make my truck go on a 1/4 mile or how much black smoke i can make it puff out.
I'm open to "try this not that" or "while your in there you might as well also fix/upgrade..."

So here is what im thinking..
  1. Injector upgrade and injector cups After talking with RoseWood they suggested i go with
Premium Stage-2/c: $1455 *Overhaul, converts to 160 cc Single Shots, nozzles flow 80% over stock. With correct supporting mods, these are capable of around 400 hp.
I will also need KT to re-tuned my chip for these single shots (which is about $240 for the re-tune ). Rosewood also suggested changing the Valvecover gasket and under cover harness. They also think i should be thinking about upgrading the turbo to a larger Garret 38R ball bearing turbo later on.
  2. glow plugs
  3. BD exhaust brake not really sure which one to go with. BD or Banks
  4. engine oil cooler with fan
  5. external trans cooler with fan
  6. re-gear but to what gears?

So is this choice of injectors overkill or not correct for what im wanting?
Thoughts on exhaust brakes?

thanks
Cory

I have read allot about turning the stock exhaust back pressure valve behind the turbo into a exhaust brake. I am working on getting parts together for doing it myself. I would think an upgrade to a min of 4" exhaust would help out as well. Think of easy in and easy out. If you put more air in. You need to let the more air out.
Mind you. This information is from what I have read and researched from this site.

I don't see were an upgrade to the glow plugs would really do anything for tow power. Unless they are worn out. I see the point if you are in the valve cover to replace glow plugs, then replace the wire harness. That sounds like a good choice for a while you are doing.

I am understanding that your truck may have come with 140cc injectors.. I think 160 would do you allot of good. Again, I would go back to easy in easy out. With the bigger injectors. I would install an intake kit, and upgrade the exhaust. Most folks have talked about doing a 6637 6637 Mod - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums filter mod. I have done that on mine and I have noticed a 2 mpg gain. I my own personal research. I think the airaid mxp intake box found hear }Airaid MXP SynthaMax Dry Filter Intake System 401-246 is all round a good unit. I understand that a 4" exhaust from the turbo back would be the best. You may have to look at the down pipe. There may be enough room on yours to fit a 4" down pipe. On my 99 I can fit a 3" down pipe. If you have more air to the bigger injectors, and a better way to remove the exhaust. This SHOULD cut down on the amount of black smoke and not lose any of your added power.

Turning the EBPV into a engine brake is allot cheaper of a way. Thread found } https://www.dieselbombers.com/ford-p...ust-brake.html

External coolers with fans, are ALWAYS a good idea.

Re-gear. Are you running bigger tires. Say 3x bigger then stock. I would take a good educated guess and say you have 373 or 410 gears. and 265 tire. With the auto tranny, you should be able to go with a 285 (33") tire with trailer just fine. I feel anything more then that pulling a trailer. re-gear to the next size. if you 373 the you want 410. if you have 410 then you want 427. MIND YOU THESE NUMBERS ARE NOT EXACT. YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE RESEARCH TO FIND WHAT AXLE YOU HAVE AND SUCH.

Don't know what gear you have now. research the tag on the door. or have a buddy count how many time the driveline turns on one tire revolution. ie, jack up one tire. mark the tire and the driveline with somethin. count how many time the line on the driveline goes past. take that number and divide the 2 ( 2 wheels) this gives you a close number for your gearing. So the drive line turns 54 times. that would be 54/2=2.7.

Hope this helps..

the more im looking into this, im seeing the snowball build up.

another thing to add to the list Fuel Rail Crossover and a High Pressure Crossover seem to be a must.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

is the under cover harness the same as the fuel injector harness?
