i have a 2001 with a bad engine,i can buy a 97 2wd ambulance witha good engine

can i put the 97 model enngine in my 2001 4x4

 

Essentially, yes. The long block is the same, they just have different externals. They have a different style up-pipe and turbo assembly. Different injectors. Some other things as well. But I think you can transfer most of that stuff from your old engine onto this one and you should be fine. There are some threads on other forums of guys doing this. A simple search will probably pull up a whole build thread.
