Default dumb question????

Ok now for the little questions.... Why is the oil so black? I just changed mine and of course now the new oil looks just as bad as the old stuff. I read on here that its gonna be so what is considered bad? Fuel additives? Any opinions on the injector cleaner/water remover? My fuel filter looked like it had algae in it. Ok last one... battery light. It comes on for a while while driving but then goes back off. Gauge says alt. is charging at bats show 12 when off. Sorry, lied, one more. My owners book says headlights are on two diff. fuses but i only have one in my panel. Right side head light don't work and no lights if i hit the high beams. All running lights work fine. Thank you in advance ya'll

there is approx. 4 quarts of oil in the engine that doesn't get drained out and it will mix with the new when you start the engine, try lucas, howes and other fuel additives to get a feel of what you like, alternator is most likely heading south! check to see if the bulbs are burned out and check the wires in the pigtails (sometimes high wattage bulbs can burn the wiring up)

To add to what Power-Struck said (also on my end never thought bout 4 quarts still in your engine, heard it was due to something else good to know ) On the lighting issue (ran into somethin like this on the Dirty) is check the connections that your bulbs ride in. Sometimes they can be dirty and not making a connection. Its very annoying. I've been pulled over several times for my right hand brake light being out, but it isn't out brand new bulb just isn't making a connection. So, thats another rought and something just to check. I know I never checked that just through a bulb into it.

The extra to my guess would be what doesn't drain out...you'll never get all the oil out of your engine. Some sets on top of the engine from where it lubricates and what not. Yeah I have wiring issues with my back tail lights on my rig. I use power serv for injector cleaner...my dads used it for a long while and it seems to do well with both my rigs. Other than that I don't run any other kind of additive in my rigs.

the extra oil is in the high pressure pump, oil rails, and injectors

aren't the oil rails just on 6.0s...please forgive if I'm not correct..but I don't recall seeing them on the 7.3's...could very well be wrong..

Brain fart yall. My "assistant" was looking at the wrong page for the fuses. Right side fuse is under hood and brights are under dash. Did get all that fixed up but noticed left side socket got really hot and melted the center prong a lil bit. Gotta replace it. Thanks again for all yalls help
