Solution: I had bad injectors. Sent injectors to Jim at Rosewood Diesel and had premium stock rebuild, now the truck purrs like a kitten, a big kitten. Thanks for the help everyone.

I was recently driving from georgia back to north carolina when my truck started running rough and then died. It would turn over and idle for a few seconds then stop again and blow white smoke then stopped completely. I got it pulled back to my friends house and discovered that is was my inline fuel pump was the cause. An easy way to check is to turn your key to the on position but not to where you turn the motor over, and listen to the pump for it to be pushing fuel to the bowl. If you do not here any noise another way to check is to remove your fuel filter and have a friend turn the key to the on position while you look at the bowl. If fuel is sent to the bowl slowly or not at all your pump once again may be bad. That would be where I would start. Like yours mine did not pull up any codes but my check light did come on briefly and went away.

Yeah, I had the same problem and already replaced the fuel pump a week earlier and got it running again then it had the no start issue. I guess I posted my results because when I was looking before and people had similar symptoms, but no one followed up. In my case it was injectors. Two were totally smoked and stuck open.

i got a problem with a 99 f350 7.3 you can start it up and drive about 2 miles and it shuts off like you turned off the key changed the cmp not the problem i've noticed the icp sensor when you unplug it it has oil on the connector we have got it to start by holding the pedal wide open and spraying wd40 in it and it will finally start and run back in may i pulled the gas tank and the filters at the pick up were clogged so i cleaned them and cleaned out the tank the pick up pump is along the frame and it runs fine any help would be great

thanks tom
