Check the fuel pressure.

Dont run the tank below 1/4 ever.

More then likely you have a plugged pick up, but you could have a trashed pump.

So as I said before...

CHECK THE FUEL PRESSURE.

I got a fuel pressure gauge the other day, but cant find the adapter any where so i just ordered one online, and went on with out it. i droped the tank to replace the sending unit with a spare i had and the truck run and idle much much better now. After i get the part for my pressure gauge will i be able to tell if my pump is dieing? The truck drives like it did when i bought it, but it seems as if previous owner never did regular maintenance. So im wondering if my hpop or pump is weak and i might be loseing some power/mpg. Id like to keep the truck stock to increase the life span and obtain as much mpg as i can.

Once you get that thing ironed out, you'll get pretty decent fuel mileage out of it.

finally got the adapter to check my fuel pressure. I went to drive truck to friends to check it there. when i started my truck it fired right up and idle like normal for few seconds. then check engine light came on and it idle real rough. Not knowing what to do i shut it off and restarted it to see if it did it again. and it did for about 3 or 4 starts. when it idled like normal for few minutes i drove it where i had to go and few miles down road lost all power light came on. so i pulled over restarted and all was fine again. When i got to destination i put gauge on started up truck and it slowly climbed from 0 to 50 psi. i reved it and it held pretty steady. The highest it got was 55 psi. Truck still feels extremly weak pulling my trailor but the hose was not long enough for me to feed it though hood and drive. Any thoughts on this situation?

50-55 is a bit lower then I would like, but not enough to effect your power.

Sounds like you have a bad UVC harness or an IDM going out.

i replaced the uvch along side the road, and drove it for a few days with no problems other then the lack of power. Im not sure what the IDM is. I will have to look it up and check in to it. Mean while im trying to get a shop with the proper scan tools to hook it up to the computer to check the codes.

got truck hooked up to snap on.

koeo stored codes were

p0270 cyl #4 inj circ low
p1264 cyl #4 hi to low side short
p1274 cyl #4 hi to low side open

i think these where from when the uhvc on passenger side came undone. I have since replaced both sides

the most recent codes where

p1316 IDM code detected
p1211 ICP pressure Above/Below desired

and finally the koer was

p0476 exhaust pressure control valve (i cleaned the tube few weeks ago)

when the truck was running at idle

ebp 14 psi
irp 11%
IP 480 psi (when i gave it gas it maxed at around 1200)

what i take from all this is i need a new fuel pump, IDM, Hpop, and IPR. Hopefully some one with more knowldge can chime in. Thanks in advance

None of those codes leads me to believe you need anything new...

ICP code means you have a chip that was asking for more ICP then the HPOP could supply. Its a common code and not something I would consider an issue.

No idea why you think you need an IPR...

No idea why you think you need a new fuel pump...

And still nothing there that points to an IDM...

Clear all the codes, drive it for a bit (normal not hot rodding) and check the codes again.

there is no chip in the truck. beside the air intake and removal of the cat the truck is completly stock. i think i need a new fuel pump because of the crap that was cloging the sending unit and that was in the bottom of the fuel bowl. the truck has no power underload. so its missing something some where. thoese where the codes i got. since i cleaned the ebps tube and sensor the valve been opening and closeing alot more then ever before, but with the koer test i got the ebpv code. Also i seem to be getting a signifcint lose in fuel mileage after the cleaning of the ebps tube. Not a gain like people claim after cleaning. there was also oil in the icp wire harness. if ever thing seems fine, what should i be testing for? or how do i test for it?

also, an ipr becuse i though you said 50psi was low. I could be wrong, but i though that was controlled by the ipr

Fuel pressure is controled by the FPR, HPO is controled by the IPR.
