Default Random stalling and dead accelorator pedal

My 2000 f350 has been dieing at random times, everyone says its the cps, I changed it and it still does it, well the other day it died again but this time the "service engine soon" light and "wait to start" light were flashing and flickering and you could hear what sounded like relays clicking in the dash. It would not restart, even after I cycled the key on and off (that usually fixes the problem), each time I tried to start it the lights were flicking on and off and the relay sound was clicking like crazy. After 10 min or so of this finally the light stayed on and the noise went away and then it started. Does this sound like anything in perticular, something common with my year and model?
