i know a lot of people don't like the edge programmer but i have one i use on my 01 dually 4x4 automatic truck just to check for codes. could i use this same unit on my 00 dually 2wd, manual trans truck??? i'm going to add gauges and run the tow mode if this works. if not, my driver is stuck with a turd for now!!!

 

A programer will work on all years of the motor...

 

thanks joe, i just wanted to make sure before i'd fry the computer or something stupid. the dam thing stock just totally sucks pulling a little 27' trailer i bought for some odd jobs and cant imagine if i have to use it (which i do in 2 wks!) pulling one of our big 40' with it! thanks again...

I would at least reset the edge and check with their software to make sure you have the most up to date tunes.

My father plugged the edge (evo with built in gauges) from his old truck to mine just to have a trans gauge when they were towing their 5er and it put a 2000 tune on my 2002 truck...no tach, glow plugs... Edge send me a stock writer tune to get everything back to square but my truck was down for 48 hours. Honest mistake but I would just double check your edge doesn't have any tunes on it when you take it off and the edge will support your truck. If you call them and tell them your product info that will be able to tell you.
