Default 7.3 horsepower

How much horsepower can a stock engine 7.3L f250 handle. Curious because if I started upgrading parts like turbo, intake, and putting a ts 6po chip in I dont want to go overboard with hp that the truck might not be able to handle.

If its a forged rod block you can put 600+ threw it with the right supporting mods.

being that its a 99 im pretty sure the rods are forged. I think it was the 01-02's that had the powder coat rods that are weak and known for breaking. What kind of mods are you talkin about. Like I said im new to the diesel engine, feel like im catching on quick and doing lots of studying on things....But, gotta admit Im still pretty clueless.

it doesnt have to be a total rebuild but if you tearin it apart its worth the money to just put new parts in but if you have a auto better torque converter and flywheel that can handle high horsepower, make sure your clutches, solenoids, bands are good. But jacob got it right.

There is no stock 7.3 trans that will hold a lot over stock. You will need a total rebuild from someone like BTS or john woods to reliability hold that kind of power

Rebuild on the trans? The Turbo will depend on what you will be doing with the pickup what injectors you get and how much HP you want.
