Ford Cummins Conversion

Ford Cummins Conversion
I have a 1994 ford 4x4 f350 crew cab with 8 ft. bed. Currently she is the old 7.3l idi. In the near future a 1996 4x4 dodge standard cab 12valve is coming my way. I know Fummins and ford-cummins.com have conversion parts. Both trucks are automatics. The dodge is to be the donor for the engine. Should I keep the e40d that is in the ford right now or swap the dodge auto in with the engine? Will the firewall have to be beat back or will the conversion motor mounts take care of this? I know this is the ford forum and being new to the bombers I didn't know where to post this. Any and all information on this type of conversion will be appreciated. When the project gets under way I will be taking a lot of pictures for others who may be interested. The projects code name will be "Hybrid".
Thanks,

huh... this must be fummins season... well if you keep the E40D, it will probably need to be built to hold the power. hence why you don't see any 1994 powerstrokes with a E40D, they are all 5 speeds. are you an auto guy or a manual guy? the firewall doesn't need to be pushed back or anything. but it will be pretty tight front to back tho. on the main page there is a page for engine conversions. you will probably get more welcoming posts than in the powerstroke section.

i just got done with my swap i did a 94 12v p pumped into basically your same truck i put a 5r110 behind it, if u do an auto you will need a trans controller to let the trans know when to shift... those are like 800 let alone the adapter plates and the flexplate so yea if you dont care about a manual id find a NV4500 for it fastest and easiest way to drive your truck, trust me
