A buddy of mine is looking to buy a 97 f250 7.3 but the mileage is TMU. Anything in particular I should be looking for on it for him? I know the oil pan and shackles etc but anything mechanical?

He said it had a low pedal but that's probably a booster or wheel cylinder but mainly engine wise what should I be looking for?

Any advise would be great thanks in advance!

 

Make sure it starts fine without smoking. If it does smoke, note the color.

Check the fluids colors.

Take the oil filler cap off and watch the blowby. It shouldn't chug but don't be worried if you see a steady stream.

Check the valley of the motor for any fluids. Might pull the fuel filter cap and check the fuel filter.
