I got a 1996 f250 and the IDM went out and i need a new one, i have found a bunch but they say i have to know the mileage of the truck and the code thats on the back of the IDM thats in the truck? And that there are differnt amps for different years, if so what should the one i need be?

you can run and IDM out of any year. try to find one out of a 99.5 and new, they send the most voltage to the injectors so you might see some better throttle response.

 

Will this bolt, or plug right in with out having to change anything? And why would the place im buying it from be so worried about the mileage on the truck and the code or numbers on the back of the IDM?

 

IDM's are interchangeable between any 7.3 Powerstroke diesel.... It will bolt right in no matter what year it's from as long as it's from a 7.3 powerstroke..
