Default 7.3 upgrades

right now i have a ts chip,k&n intake, bprv, and straight pipe. i am getting guages here pretty soon to keep an eye on egt's, but my question is what should i look to get next. i know injectors, hpop, turbo and a custom chip but i also want to add and intercooler junkyard style . but i am on a budget so what should i do first to prevent damage to other weaker parts before they get upraded?

Not much more you can do for power without stepping up your fuel and air... That gets expensive so whatever you can do with your budget...

well i guess i mean i dont want to get a hpop thats higher preasure and mess up the injectors or vice versa and burn out my hpop and on my chip (youd probably know since you have a chip too) can i send my chip i bought from some other company to a custome tune company and not pay full price for another chip. and what do you think about these injectors FFD 94-03 Power Stroke REMAN Stage 1 Fuel Injectors - Injectors - (1994-1997) 7.3L - Power Stroke

You won't "burn up" the injectors by getting a hpop... If you went with stage 1s, you can run the factory 15* hpop so long as it can supply what the programming requires for the injectors. I run those full force stage 1's and love them. I've had them in for a year and a half and no issue. I still run my original hpop as well. Yes you can send in your ts chip to a tuner and pay a return fee, typically 150ish bucks.

well, thats good to hear about the injectors since they're the cheapest ive found so far. so i could get a hpop first and not damage the injectors.im just a little worried since the truck has 290,000 miles on factory everything.any recomendations on a reburner preferbally one with free reburns after initial purchase?and thx for helping me you seem pretty knowledable and the only one to chime in

like said before your HPOP is not going to damage your injectors, and for tuners i would look at Beans diesel, Tyrant diesel, Power Hungry Performance, Total Diesel Performance, there are still more out there but these ones come to mind and i have heard good things about them. If you have the cash do injectors and HPOP at the same time, you can always send you HPOP in to Terminator Engineering and get it modded.

What are your HP goals and what do you use the truck for?

A set of stage 1's (160/100) will run fine with all the remaining stock parts.

A set of stage 2's (180/100) will run fine as well, but your going to be pushing the limits of the factory fuel system and run a bit hot without an intercooler.

Joe, I think most vendors sell stage 1's as 160cc stock nozzles... I know you think every vendor does it differently but full force, rosewood, unlimited and the like all sell stage 1's as 160cc/stock nozzles... But I completely agree, you can run those without having to upgrade much else and it will wake the truck up very nicely.

Stage 2's are typically in the 160-180cc with an 80% or 100% nozzle... These injectors are typically going to start pushing the limits of stock parts like the HPOP, turbo, fuel system and you will need to start adding things like intercoolers...

Ugdude77... I think now that you own the chip, you will always have to pay the reburn fee because you didn't buy the chip through the place your getting custom tunes. That is kind of the deal the people who buy directly through them get. I tell everybody the same thing. Pick your poison when it comes to tuners... Call them all and talk to them and pick the one you liked the most. Tony Wildman, PHP, Swamps, Beans, Gearhead, Tyrant...Etc... All good tuners.. You will get everybody on a forum to tell you how great the one tuner they ever used was but they haven't tried anybody else... We call those guys nutswingers...

csipsd: i mainly just use the truck as a daily driver with some power behind her and an trailer every now and then but to add on the list of upgrades is now an elctric fuel pump conversion. my preasure at the bowl is only 55 psi and makes a white puff a little at higher rpm and the only think i can think is the fuel spikes at wot and drops and cant catch up

Your fuel pressure is probably fine...I run the low 60's psi at idle... It will spike but I doubt that is causing your smoke... If in fact those are factory injectors, I'm guessing the smoke is caused by worn parts in them...

Also, for a daily driver with a little attitude AND on a budget... Stage 1's (160cc/stock nozzle) is a great upgrade. Will you always want more? Sure... Do you want reliable power that won't leave you stuck somewhere and not spend a small fortune? Stage 1's can get you there. Your power right now would be lucky to be at 200rwhp... Most likely you're looking at 170ish... Stage 1's and some tunes to match can get you into the low 300's with stock turbo, hpop, fuel... The only thing I would question, since I don't know your truck, is what kind of condition your transmission is in because face it, you're going to nearly double your horsepower here and these auto trans usually have to be replaced at some point at the stock power output.
