Default Tranny Problems

I have a 97 F250 with a ZF5 tranny and when im going down the road the tranny makes a whining sound and it does it worse when i decelorate in gear. Its just a constant whining sound. I know its the tranny because it stops when i push the clutch in, what would cause this?

Thats what i was thinking but i took it to my mechanic and he said dont worry about it but i would think that it needs to be fixed because if the barring goes all hell is gonna break loose when it goes

check your fluid level cuz low fluid can also cause it to whine but more likley its probably the bearings winding

could be throw out bearing. i would do a flush on the tranny. then run BG synchro shift2. it's a little pricey but it's good stuff. when you fill the tranny back up, fill it from the top. put in a extra quart after fluid level is at the fill plug.

i hope it didnt do any damage i kinda think is barrings and keep in mind the tranny has 337,000 miles on it so its getting tired i just dont know how it would leak that much fluid.

at 337K, if it is the factory, untouched tranny. it's proably seen better days. if you do all your mods you want to do i would have it checked out. you'll have to drop it to do a clutch any ways.
