Default Straight axle?

I'd like to do a straight axle conversion on my 97 powerstroke. However, before tearing in I'd like to know some pros and cons. Or what I'm getting myself into. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and could handle the labor, but still would like to know what I'm getting into.

I put over 270k on my TTB 97 OBS without a single issue... 270k...

There are some benifits to the D-60 conversion, tighter turning circle, bit cheaper parts and easier to lift.

i did this on my 94. i had to drill for the sway bar brackets. obviously, make sure you have the same gear ratio. it's not that hard, but the TTB is kinda a PIA to get out.

I did the swap in my 97. you will probably notice a stiffer ride. Probably should change the pitman arm to a longer one to get a better turning radius I didn't think it was too bad of a job. The hole were there for the sway bar. I have put 200,000 mile on since and ball joints have been the only real maintenance. The independent was just worn out in 185000.
