Default Engine Swap, 95 to 97

Picking up a 97 with a blown trans this weekend to replace my smashed '95. The owner claims the engine runs strong, but I'm thinking bout just swapping my engine and trans, since I know my old engine's good and strong. How hard/time consuming is this swap? I've done a ton of engine swaps, just never for these trucks. Thanks

You could have it done in a weekend. It's as simple as pulling the old one and popping in the new one... I would do the engine and transmission in two pieces though. It will be a 1500ish pounds of awkwardness if you tried to do it as one piece.

Ok thanks that's kinda what I was thinking. Seems like the time to do it, just slide the trans out the front while I have the hoist.

you can do the engine and trans in one. it just likes to roll to the drivers side. seperate them and you'll save yourself alot of time.
