Default New guy with a few ???'s

First post, great site with lots of good info! I have a 95 powerstroke with a 5 speed manual that I recently bought and I'm wanting to do a few upgrades but nothing major. I'm not trying to pull the gates off of hell, just gain a little power. I'm planning on doing intake, exhaust, gauges, maybe injectors(50 hp or so) and a chip. Not too sure on which intake to get yet but I'll figure it out soon. I think I'm going to go with a Tony Wildman chip after I install my gauges. I'm not sure what to do with the exhaust. I dont know if I should put a 3" down pipe with 4" straight pipe or a 4" down pipe with 5" straight pipe. What size do you guys recommend I use with the mods I'm planning on doing to it? Leave the cat and no muffler or no cat with a muffer? It sounds good now and I can hear the turbo pretty good but I want it done right. Thanks ahead for any info!

Well after doing a little more reading and talking to a couple buddies, i think i decided to go with the 3" down pipe and 4" exhaust. still not sure if i should keep the cat and no muffler or no cat and a muffler. maybe niether, just straight through? like i said in previous post, sounds good now with cat and no muffler so i might stick to that route.

As for the intake i was thinking of the tymar set up but ive read alot of mixed feelings about it. some say it lets it breath in hot air but what keeps any other set up from taking in hot air? is it the half box/shield they come with?

delete the cat and either run a straight pipe or buy a 4in exhaust. lots of people are running a DIY intake like the tymar and dont have any problems.

you will have a real hard time tryin to fit a 4 in downpipe. just got with a 3 in downpipe to a 4 in straight pipe no need for a cat

3" downpipe with 4" straight pipe and a tip of your choice... You will not fit a 4" downpipe without doing a lot of firewall modifications...

As far as the intake, Tymar makes a great kit. I run it and like it. It will take in the same air that any other set up does...

Sounds like you are on the right track... intake, exhaust, gauges, then chip it. If you are still looking for more, A stage 1 injector would do great.

welcome to the site. i have just a 6637 filter and a piece of 4in exhaust piping, love it, works great. 4in down pipe will never fit under the hood, and id just run a straight pipe if i were you and can the kitty. i have tony wildman tunes, i would recommend street and extreme settings if youre going to get a TW and if you live in a cold place high idle is a great setting to get. other postions are optional. also, smoke setting is a waist, extreme blows the same exact amount of smoke. also look into an intercooler, thats a huge upgrade on these trucks.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the smoke setting for the TW chip. I wasn't sure if it would be worth adding. Thanks again for info!

Not worth it. Especially with stock injectors...
