Default New guy help, oil leak

I am new to diesel powered automobiles and just bought a 1994 Ram 2500 4x4 auto transmission and have an oil leak. The local parts house was not helpful in identifying the part or what i need to do to fix it. After roaming around here for a while i could not find anything that shows the injector pump in a diagram. What is the part shown below and how hard is it to change? It is on the block side of the pump. Thank you in advance for putting up with the new guy.

Injector pump is probably fine. It is fed engine oil by a #4 steel braided hose that plumbs in on back side of pump. The oil feed port has a T fitting in block that has another #4 hose that feeds the vacuum pump under injection pump. That hose fails more often than pump feed hose. Sounds like a pressure wash is needed and observe exactly where oil is coming from. Could be coming from rear of vacuum pump as well (common repair, seal kit available, but experience is needed). The only seal on back side of injection pump is on throttle shaft, and they generally just seep small amount. No biggie, just pain in ***.

Upon further investigation this appears to be a vent? No line coming or going to it? It does appear that is where its leaking.

Need more specific info. At the rear of block on FP side, there should be a clear 1" hose coming off the tappet cover on a 90 degree steel elbow built into tappet cover which runs the entire length of the block. The hose should be around 30 inches long. Is this where the oil is coming from? If the hose is missing, oil will cover the rear of the block and the starter. If that is the case, with the engine warmed up, do you see a white smoke streaming or puffing out the elbow? In rare cases, the rubber gasket for the tappet cover will split causing a leak. Where on block is the oil build up the worst?

I will look at the hose tonight after work in the daylight, the oil build up is the worst right around the item in the picture and appears to be coming from the item with the arrow in the picture above. Everything lower that that was covered in oil and nothing above it was even damp. I have not noticed any white smoke but I will look tonight after work in the day light. Thank you again for all the help!

Oh wow, that is the backside of the throttle shaft. Never seen one leak that bad before. I have always said I don't know it all cause I see something new every day. Sorry about the pump is probably fine comment. Find your nearest Assoc of Diesel Specialist (ADS) shop and leave with them for pump reseal and ask them to set timing to 15 degrees. The hose part I was speaking of is the only crankcase vent. Don't bother checking for the white smoke, I thought maybe the hose fell off and you possibly had excess crankcase pressure. Good luck bud!

Your stock timing is at 11 degrees on a 94. Advancing the timing really helps response and generally gives you a little bit of RPM, cleaner starts, better power. These guys who time them at 18 degrees or higher are asking for problems. Had a customer from Arkansas whose buddy had turned is truck up for him and we found the only thing he did was turn the timing up to 23 degrees. His cylinder head was cracked and had coolant in oil. By the time he got to NM, he ate up 2 turbos and did unknown damage to bottom end. It can also crack pistons & rings. But excessive timing basically rings the head like a tuning fork and usually cracks the combustion surface with spider web type cracks. This one was cracked between the valve springs on top of head in #2 cylinder. Generally, we time man trans trucks at 15 and autos at 16.5 due to torque converter spongeness. That's as high as we go.
