That's why I said one's or three's (one's). I can only assume you are using this issue as an excuse to upgrade your injectors (or you would not be considering stage two's), because 95 powersmoker is right, it would be foolish to throw injectors at it thinking that will solve your problem. In my personal opinion, 227K is not too many to start modifying, not much more dangerous than modifying a younger motor. It is a powerstroke after-all. Of more importance is resolving any issues FIRST.

I would never get stock injectors when stage one's are not much more. and remember that stage two's still deliver 160cc's. In my opinion, stage 2's are more for racing as opposed to towing. Turn to Rosewood Diesel (they are finally a sponsor). I have their injectors and they can give good advice.

"A and AA injectors came in the '94-'97 non-california trucks. They are all 90cc injectors and are single shots."(from CSIPSD). With stock being 90, Stage I being 160, that's a difference. Find the the issue before putting in injectors. And look at what you want for a final result (HP goal/how are you going to use the truck) before choosing which Stage injector. Keep in mind, the higher the stage, the more mods that may need to be done in order for you to get the most from the injectors(HPOP, turbo), especially with 227K.

Thanks for the info, the fuel pump was replaced by previous owner 3k miles ago but as far as the injectors go im pretty sure they are due for replacing along with O-rings I mean that's a safe bet, no?

You can run the truck with the valve covers off to see the oil coming out of the injectors through the spouts. If they all spit oil, I would say you have a different problem.

I still say find the problem first. If it ends up being the injectors, then replace them. But unless you're absolutely positive it's the injectors, you may scar/damage the new ones.

My buddy said he will check injectors on friday, another mechanic I spoke to said I should put rotella full synthetic 5w30 in it during the winter to help injectors perform better, I did that and it helped a little but still have the chugging when I slow down then slowly throttle up

How does he plan on checking injectors? And 15w40 oil is fine in the winter... I know plenty of guys who run it and never had an issue.
