Sounds fine, just has a constant grey smoke more when you excelerate.

when I started the big guy this morning she was real hard to start, took five or six tries before she would stay running. I think I screwed up when I changed the filter as I did not prime the fuel bulb...how bad is this.

I guess I would have to agree with CSIPSD on the ULSD not causing the problem with the smoke, a batch or a bunch of batches of bad fuel could however lead to the problem but it's most likely a turbo seal, low compression (hopefully not) or valve issues, buddy of mine just had his 7.3 heads re-done and they cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $900 which isn't terrible
