i have a 97 7.3 psd, and everytime it gets up to operating temperature, it dies and will not restart until it is cool, then it fires right up. im at a lost. i know its something electrical, i just dont know how to find it. someone said something about a fuel shut off relay or breaker but thats the closest thing i have gotten to an answer so far. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

 

Don't waste your time looking for a fuel shut off......

It's got a mechanical pump.


I have seen the fuel tank selector valve crap out and cause a no-start, but not a temperature-related stall.

First things first....

Does your tachometer needle move while cranking when it dies and won't restart?

 

yup. and i put a new cam sensor in it. and while it was dead i also swapped out the idm with a know good one.

 

I once sold my 95 psd because of this for 2,000 thought it was hpop maybe not. needed alot of other stuff too

 

Injector orings? When the oil gets hot it thins out and looses oil pressure to the injectors.
