You have any gauges? Any mods to the motor? Its not the TPS, sounds like a low/no boost issue or a fuel pressure issue.

I was thinking fuel pressure, but the boost issue also sounds valid. Are there any cracks, cuts, or tears in any of the intake hoses? Clamps secure?

To check boost, you either need to get a set of gauges (one of which should be boost), or read the map sensor with a scanner. The best thing to do is read your codes (one of which may be low boost). You really need this information to help diagnose your problem.

Check your fuel pressure at the schrader valve (looks like a tire valve stem) on the fuel pressure regulator with pencil-type tire pressure gauge or a fuel pressure gauge. The pencil-type will will get diesel in it and will probably be useless for air pressure after doing this.

This will probably cause diesel to leak or spray a bit. Test the fuel pressure at idle. Normal pressure is considered to be in the 40 - 80 PSI range.
