Default PCM and Solenoid Body

Hello Bombers. I recently posted that my 97 f250 would have a surge of 500 rpm, lose acceleration and then regain speed and acceleration. Yesterday I was coming home from south of St. Louis, Mo. when it revved 1000 rpm and I lost all acceleration. I had to pull over and put it in park and then start all over again. First and Second gears jarred the truck, but once I got past those it was fine. I made it to a Ford dealer in Peoria, IL. (Finish Line Ford) and they told me that it is the PCM and the solenoid body. The solenoid body was the reason for the surge and the PCM (brain) was conflicting with it. Sound like a likely solution?
