Default heater promblems

i have a 96 f-350 powerstroke and have heater prombls. i got a new part,, its long and skinny kind of like a single coil and the other end has threads and it screws in somewhere. and ideas where it goes or where i should look... thanks for any help

sounds like a block heater? its right by the oil filter

yea yeehaw should be on the money. Sounds like block heater usually by oil filter or possible where a freeze out plug would be located. Sometimes there is coolant heater, (mostly in heavy duty trucks), or block heater (pretty sure thats what u have), and last fuel heater in the chamber!!

i realized i stated the wrong info, '01+ 7.3s have it by oil filter, before that they were located on the right hand side of the block
