Default looking at buying 97 powerstroke have some questions

i just got to wy from AK for school looking at this 97 powerstroke,
guy says it has no boost and is blowing blue smoke.
what could i do to fix this?
like i said im a student i dont have alot of cash
let me know if u think its worth buying or not

if you dont have alot of money I wouldnt get into something like that.

yeah man if you dont have alot of money to put into that truck you might want to stay away from buying it.

Sounding turbo-ish. Gonna drop $600 on a rebuilt turbo and they suck to replace. Bet you'll pay $400 in labor at a shop.

As a student with no money my recommendation would be to buy something cheap that runs!

Diesels are expensive to buy and expensive to fix, it's only worth it if you can afford one that is in good enough shape that it won't have any serious mechanical failures... My advice would be to buy a used gasser half ton. Tons of them around for sale for dirt cheap in many areas. $5000 will get you a great half ton if you look for it. I'd hold out on a diesel until you graduate and have a job where you can afford a nicer truck. Just my advice though.

Sounds like the turbo is shot, pretty common with some miles on them.

where in wyoming are you located?? larmie?? could be turbo or could be injector problems.
