If it's a dually take off your outer dual wheel. That takes some wieght off. Only fill your front tank and leave the rear dry. Thats some more wieght lost. Horses don't win races but torque does. Get on Ebay and spend $250-$300 on a TS 6 position and let that puppy breathe by opening up the exhaust. A chip and total exhaust system if you have someone do it for you should run around $800 (if you put a stack on it). Those are common mods that anyone can understand. Your not going to burn a ton of rubber but you can certainly squeek your tires. These guys are right though, if you dont understand you the language DON'T modify your truck. Do your homework so your not out another $5k buying another truck that your just going to tear up.

If you have an automatic transmission, the first thing you're going to want to do is beef that up. You can get a lot of horsepower out of the 7.3, but the E4OD is the weak link in the drivetrain. I saw a tech article on what was needed for different horsepower ranges. As soon as they got into the 400 hp range, it said that the transmission would have to be strengthened.
