How do I avoid high egt's. I know their bad but if I'm towing uphill do I lug it or run high rpm's

 

Well certainly do not lug it. That would cause your egt's to rise significantly as well as heat up your turbo. Drop it a gear and run a higher engine speed. That will keep your egt's much lower. Lugging is also rough on rod and crank bearings.
