Default 97 powerstroke tune up

Hi all,
I recently picked up a 97 f250 7.3L. I have done all kinds of maintenance to the truck since january when i bought it. Now that it is warm out and I have a chance to work on it for a few days i would like to pull the valve covers and replace injector orings and glow plugs. I also plan on inspecting (or replacing) the valve cover gaskets and harnesses if needed. I was wondering if there is anything else I should do while im in there. Should I clean or replace nozzles on the injectors? Would this be a good time for me to do some upgrades to the injectors? I dont plan to build a big power truck, but am trying to bullet proof this thing. I would like for this to be the last truck I buy for a while. BTW truck has 196k on it. all stock except for tymar intake, 4in stainless exhaust and some other small crap. I would just like to be prepared before I tear it apart and have everything I should replace already on hand.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I would go ahead and replace the valve cover gaskets as they have the glowplug wiring built in and you already have the covers off( no need in doing more work later). I would also check to make sure all of your injectors are working properly and last but not least while you have the driver side valve cover off go ahead and replace the orings underneath the ccv doghouse. I suggest turning the doghouse 180 degrees and getting a few feet of 1/2" tube to run underneath the truck so you minimize the oil residue being pushed into you engine bay.

Why replace parts that you don't need to? The valve cover gaskets are not cheap

they aren't that expensive. you can get both for about $120.00 from advanced auto. And because the wiring for the plugs is connected to them, and they are notorious for failing, its always a good idea to replace them when you do your glow plugs, unless you have a magical way of keeping oil and dirt off of the connectors.

I gave replaced glow plugs 2 times in my pickup and about 4 sets I. Other pickups. Never once have I had any issues with the connectors. You are wasting money if you replace them when they don't need to be

The CCV

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

the CCV vent hose is 3/4, not 1/2.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was definitely planning on making sure the uvc harnesses were intact and not burned while i was in there. I was even planning on ordering a set of the shims ford sells for the connectors just in case the connections were loose.
Before i disconnect anything i will crank the truck with the covers off and make sure the injectors are all spilling oil (crossing my fingers). I was just wondering if I should order nozzles and attempt to replace them myself or do any other preventative stuff while ive got it all apart.
I am going to get a set of orings (from guzzle), glow plugs (diesel Rx), those connector shims from ford, ccv vent orings and tubing, Is that all I should need?
Should I just let the injectors ride if they are all functioning?
