97 powerstroke turbo question
The stock turbo on the 1997 7.3l was a GTP38R or the GT37 if your truck was built in early 1996 as a 97 model. Below is some info on the 38r.
STOCK GARRETT TP38R
Compressor wheel inducer diameter: 59.87 mm (60 mm)
Compressor wheel exducer diameter: 80 mm
Compressor housing A/R: 1.10
Turbine wheel inducer diameter: 76.2 mm
Turbine wheel exducer diameter: 69.84 mm (70 mm)
Turbine housing A/R: 1.15

Way wrong
The stock turbo on a 97 is a TP38
The GTP38 was on the SD and the GTP38R is an aftermarket upgraded turbo for the SD. Pretty sure the GT37 is what came on the 6.0 and is a VGT turbo.

thanks guys, got the turbo back in, didnt need to do anthing to it, Pedistal ebp actuator was leaking oil, so i gutted it, put a good down pipe in, changed the CCV so it doesnt go into the intake and got rid of the Cat. Broke the darn IPC sensor when i was prying the firewall back though. There was a $100 mistake......
