Default pieced together powerstroke

ok guys i want to buy a 1996 ford f350 4x4 5 speed(zf5) tranny. my questions to yall is 1) it had th 7.3l powerstroke and when it went out a 7.3l IDI was dropped in, is been running great for the last 4 years since the engine swap but im wondering what kind of driving habits did the previous driver have to burn up a 7.3l powerstroke?. 2) it is running duel alternators so ac doesnt work? and 3) it says most of engine bay wiring harness is there and complete under dash harness is there.

these are the little red flags i have i own a 2003 7.3l so im not clueless lmao but im worried about how pieced together it is so please let me know if yall have any opinions im greatful thanks

Sounds like it's just as it sounds, a pile of parts... First off, who in their right mind would take out a powerstroke and put an IDI back in it's place... And the wiring is obviously going to be clusterfuk. If it's just going to be a parts truck then great but don't expect a gem.

I'd guess it was a guy who had a blown up PS, an IDI sitting around, and no money. I guess an IDI is better than walkin

You might get there quicker if you walk though.

To the op I would start running now or not pay more than a 1000 for the truck. Gasser 460 or 351 will out do an idi

I'm not an IDI fan but have drove my share of the before the PS came out. An IDI is like an old cell phone, it was top of the line at one time

They had one at the ranch I used to work at. Once you got it started it would go allday long. But it wouldnt go anywere fast. We were hauling hay back one day and i beat the owner back by an hour in my 6.0
